I guess you might say, a layout is a container that can accommodate
smaller containers in page that is designed for efficient handling of
content.
So yes, text and images are placed in containers. And containers are
often nested within other containers.
Many of these things will become clear to you when you actually attempt
to practice what you read. The name of the game is get something on a page.
And as I wrote yesterday, upload a page to a public server and post to
the list stating any issues that need be resolved. Provide a link to
the page in that post.
*There is no need to re-invent the wheel.* Start with a stable,
functioning layout -- there are many on the wiki. And either layout on
this page works well cross browser:
