This is another list members' (I think WD, but perhaps css-d as well) 
page. It does use a bit of JS, but looks like an acceptable amount (no 
idea what it says there though - JS not my thing), but isn't a pure CSS 
method, if that was what you're looking for. The test page [1], looks 
pretty neat though.

As an aside, I just happened to see this yesterday. Talk about coincidence!
