hi,

i've got 2 questions/problems regarding liquid layouts:

html: http://www.thorstenpeh.de/test/grundschule/frameset.html
css: http://www.thorstenpeh.de/test/grundschule/css/gs.css

i'm working on a liquid layout for the local elementary school, which
i'd like to work on 800x600+ pixel dimensions.

1) i've set widths in percentages and the 2 main columns,
inhalte_container ("content container") and aktuelles_container ("news
container", used as a multi-purpose sidebar though) which works fine on
800x600, but as the pixel dimensions grow to 1024x768+, the sidebar
seemingly takes up more and more space with big(ger) margins.

2) as to the separate background colours for the main column and the
sidebar, i'm kind of only working around the fact that i don't know how
to apply fauxcolumns to a liquid layout. i've set the background on
which the main and sidebar columns sit to the same background colour
than the sidebar. as soon as the sidebar grows longer than the main
content column, the backgrounds are not both at the bottom anymore.

any ideas? how do you guys do it?

can you guys please take a look and tell me if i'm approaching this from
the wrong angle or if there's a better approach?

thanks in advance,

- Thorsten
