Have you tried ctrl + f5? The problem occurs while all the images are
loading.

NB. You won't be able to use P the second time. Just try something like
'y > 1'.

I've had similar problems with position:relative before, though I managed to
work around them by bypassing the aforementioned property. I think it may be
something to do with my layout.

Not exactly - if I do that, then the whole row jumps.

No good - I've tried that and the Holly Hack on both the th and the sub. I
believe Position:relative invokes hasLayout anyway, so they shouldn't change
much.
