I have not experienced this. I usually use sass as follows: @mixin font-book{ font-family: "Gotham A", "Gotham B", Helvetica, Arial, Sans-serif; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; } h2{ @include font-book; } This would basically compile to your first example.
