M$ Passport seems to be interwoven w/ the (new) M$ Wallet feature.
Passport's database design is based on SQL Server for WinNT (for 
recording personal, financial and tax info).  From what I've been able 
to find on this subject, it appears that the CryptoAPI handles most of
the authentication, etc -- however, I could be wrong (and please 
correct me if I am!!).
