The Joseph Alexander Hadden who died in 1930 and left a will was the son of James Hadden and Annie Cauldwell, and grandson of Joseph Hadden (c. 1800-1888) and Jane Beatty (c. 1809-1888) of Lough Park in County Tyrone -- ancestors of Pat Hadden Gunter.

I've been helping my cousin Pat with her Hadden ancestors for a year or two. Her ancestor Alexander Anderson Hadden, son of Joseph Hadden and Jane Beatty, was born in the 1840s at Lough Park and emigrated to Pennsylvania in 1866, where he died in 1916.

Our common Hadden ancestors lived at Lough Park and Ballygawley and in the southern area of County Tyrone in general.

The oldest known/proven ancestors of this family are Joseph Hadden and John Hadden of Lough Park, who were counted at Goland townland (location of the Lough Park farm and home) in the Freeholders list of 1795. They were the only men registered at Goland of any surname (Source: PRONI. Co. Tyrone includes Freeholders List, Dungannon Barony, 1795-1798).

Three Haddens were registered in Co. Tyrone in the 1796 Irish Flax Growers/Spinning Wheel List, all in Aghaloo parish: Joseph, John and Archibald Hadden. Note that Aghaloo and Carnteel parishes were often written as one location in early records.

We're related to nearly all the Haddens who still live in that area... although sadly, many of the older cousins whom I visited 10-15 years ago have died: John Hadden of Skye, Eric Hadden of Farriter, Norman Hadden of Lurgacullion, Rae Hadden Gilmore of Dungannon, and others.

Always glad to share research notes and help with County Tyrone families.
