Hi Elwyn,Yes, there does seem to be a group of Happers in that area but I think it is not my branch. The will of John Happer of 1849 is online at Proni and he names all his sons. Probably just coincidence that there is a James there who happened to die in 1843, the same year as my James who lived in Drumadds. Then all of my James' family had left by 1846. There is a James in Drumadd as well for the tithes. Thanks for your helpPeggy On Friday, May 22, 2020, 10:09:57 p.m. PDT, elwyn soutter <[email protected]> wrote: Peggy,
Armalughey in the parish of Carnteel seems prettylikely. There were several Happer families farming there in the 1827 tithesincluding a James. https://cotyroneireland.com/tithe/carnteel.html By Griffiths Valuation in 1860 the surname wasspelled Hopper. Likewise in the 1901 census: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Tyrone/Ballygawley/Armalughey/1724855/. The Happers were reportedly from Drumadd Townland. However, this will is indexed on Proni, although no will still exists. The problem is that the townland is Annaloughy - has anyone heard of that? thanks for any help.PeggyPRONI Index : Pre-1858 Wills and Admons Sub-Index : Armagh Diocesan Administration Bonds Surname : Happer Forename : James Occupation : Farmer Town or Townland : Annaloughy [was this perhaps Armalughey?] Parish : County : Notes : Description : PRONI Ref : Date : 1843 | | Virus-free. www.avast.com | _______________________________________________ CoTyroneList Mailing List Mailing List Email Address: [email protected] Change Your Preferences: http://cotyroneireland.com/mailman/listinfo/cotyronelist_cotyroneireland.com Mailing List Archive: https://goo.gl/mQCKrY _______________________________________________ CoTyroneList Mailing List Mailing List Email Address: [email protected] Change Your Preferences: http://cotyroneireland.com/mailman/listinfo/cotyronelist_cotyroneireland.com Mailing List Archive: https://goo.gl/mQCKrY
