Hello CTI Supporters - Some supporters have asked why it is necessary to have advertisements on CoTyroneIreland.com (CTI); therefore, I will attempt to explain some of the reasoning.
There are a great many costs to operating a website – registration, hosting, spam protection, security protection, storage fees, software usage fees and on and on. As well, we, regularly, employ a programmer to develop and maintain special features such as the Every Name Index, Every Word Search, and maintenance tools. All files submitted to CTI are offered voluntarily for the benefit of the world-wide community of Co. Tyrone researchers and increasingly Cos. Donegal, Londonderry and Fermanagh. Submissions continue to be transcribed from numerous sources held in repositories in London, Dublin, Belfast and Salt Lake City and elsewhere. All this data is available freely on one unique website CoTyroneIreland.com and AT ABSOLUTELY NO COST! As well, we welcome your genealogical queries to the County Tyrone Mailing List where a number of interested, knowledgeable and experienced researchers may offer assistance. PLEASE NOTE: CTI does not receive remuneration simply for the appearance of the ads. CTI receives a few pennies when one of our Supporters actually clicks an advertisement in which they have an interest. Over the last few years, usage of CTI continues to climb, for which we are very thankful, as it keeps us energized to continue the development of new content and features. However, at the same time, revenues continually keep dropping! Hopefully, this trend will not continue? I, as your webmaster, simply cannot afford to maintain the website from my limited retirement income. Without the advertising revenues, CTI would simply not continue to exist. Our ONLY sources of revenue to keep CTI going are Advertising and Donations! Respectfully, Jim McKane, webmaster
