On Savannah, actually (upstream from GitHub). <https://savannah.gnu.org/git/?group=emacs> says this: git clone --depth 289 --no-single-branch https://git.savannah.gnu.org/git/emacs.git But it sounds like GitHub had synced by the time you got to it, so this is merely a nicety for future use.
I ran these commands and confirmed that the generated binaries displayed correctly translated (Japanese) messages. However, since the texi2pdf package does not exist on openSUSE Tumbleweed, I removed the line referencing texi2pdf from bootstrap.conf.
That's fine. When you're building from Git we assume texi2pdf and a bunch of other stuff. See the file "coreutils/README-prereq". On Tumbleweed you should be able to run texi2pdf by installing the texinfo package. Thanks for checking the patch.
