Utilities operate on the last file modified

I have written a bunch of wrappers for several utilizes which operate on 
the last file modified.

For example:
vil,  catl, headl, taill, wcl ...

rml which displays the file and asks for confirmation

mvl /newname/

chmodl a+r


Does anybody like this idea and would like to see it expanded or have 
any related suggestions?
