According to https://www.coreboot.org/Board:lenovo/x230#Internal_Flashing , yes the internal flashing is possible on x230 - however, you may have to boot with an extra iomem=relaxed Linux kernel flag. The simple ways of verifying could be adding a custom splash screen or boot message that you recognize, or reading a firmware internally and checking its' SHA256 sometimes. Also, there are more advanced ways of verification, such as vboot.
