Historic Environment Scotland is the lead body for Scotland's historic environment and cares for over 300 properties of national importance. The Stone Conservation trainee will be based at the South Gyle Conservation Centre in Edinburgh as well as work on properties in the care of Scottish Ministers throughout Scotland. This is a fixed term (12 months) and pensionable appointment.
The post will be part of a wider cohort of 10 trainees across our Conservation Directorate. Trainees will have the opportunity to gain experience in their chosen field of conservation, increase knowledge of the wider conservation sector, expand their professional network and have access to the Engine Shed learning resources. As a trainee you will work with the Historic Environment Scotland stone conservation team. You will be trained and assist in all aspects of the conservation of ornamental stone forming part of the buildings and monuments as well as stone sculptures and artefacts in the care of Scottish Ministers.
