I have been asked by an external source if it is possible to remove darkening varnish on a cricket bat.
It is starting to obscure the autographs below. Has anyone in the UK carried out this sort of work?
Obviously the ink underneath needs to be preserved. I know from the bats we have in our collection that this is a potential problem as bats seem to have been routinely varnished in the 20th century.
