The next brace of articles then shift register to focus on two diagnostic tools, digital x-radiography and fibre optic reflectance spectroscopy (FORS) before a seminal article reminding us of some of the inherent vices present within geological collections. Finally a fascinating technical article describes treating a severely deformed seventeenth century parchment volume previously deemed ‘unfit’ for public access.
