Paintings Conservator (Survey) The Royal Collection contains an unparalleled collection of nearly 8,000 paintings and 3,000 miniatures. Our team of talented Paintings Conservators are responsible for all conservation activities relating to the paintings displayed within the Royal residences as well for loans from the Paintings collection. Your challenge will be to conduct a thorough survey of this vast and diverse collection. Working across various royal residences, you'll assess paintings and compile condition reports. Undertaking detailed examinations to determine necessary conservation treatments you'll carry out a variety of remedial treatments in-situ. Gaining an understanding of the collection in its entirety, you'll be relied upon to help prioritise future conservation treatments. You'll also develop your expertise in structural conservation and become a source of advice and guidance for the team, working closely with them to develop overall knowledge in this area. Supporting the work of the team, you'll also help ensure paintings are stored, transported and displayed correctly, as well as keeping our expanding database updated. You'll aim for perfection in all that you do. And knowing that you're helping to preserve a collection that will be enjoyed by future generations will inspire you every day. About you With a post-graduate qualification in Paintings Conservation, you'll have experience of paintings conservation, ideally within a museum or heritage environment, and with skills in structural techniques, you're exactly who we're looking for. In addition, your time management skills will be vital in order to prioritise multiple, and often conflicting deadlines. Organised yet flexible in approach, you'll be able to scope out and plan long term work whilst also adapting to align with wider, short-term needs. Perceptive with great problem solving skills, we can rely on you to take initiative, assess situations, and make decisions when needed. You're an excellent communicator, and will enjoy working alongside and engaging with people at all levels across our varied and talented team. A good command of relevant IT programmes will be important too. Above all, you're driven to maintain the very highest standards of care in all that you do.
