I am looking into purchasing plastic containers/ storage boxes for the long term storage of metallic artefacts (in a silica gel environment). Two options that appear to be readily available locally are sistema (www.sistemaplastics.com) and kis bi-box (www.kis.it ) which have a lid that appears to seal the box quite well (the former being a better solution as it has a rubber gasket).
Has anyone done, or is aware, of any research carried out on the suitability of these two, or any other commercially available storage boxes, for long term storage? In the past Stewart boxes were considered to be the most stable solution- is that still the case and, if so, are all types of Stewart boxes ‘approved’? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
