The conservator of ceramic and glass is frequently led to performreconstructions within works in processing. The profiles to be reproducedvary infinitely and the variety of silicone materials available on themarket is very extensive. How to select the most suitable silicone for bestresults? The main objective of this theoretical and practical training is to provideknowledge on the different types of silicones (composition, plasticity,precision, etc.), as well as the considerations to be applied in order tomake a reasoned choice depending on the aspect and shape of the details tobe reproduced, location on the object, compatibility and interactions with the casting materials, etc. Various techniques of implementation will be illustrated and discussed through concrete cases: open mold, closed mold in one or more parts, detachable fragment technique, etc. We will concentrate on ceramics and glasses healthy, enamelled and / or non-porous.
