Have you installed any software that would have come with the wireless mouse? Some manufacturer's (e.g.Microsoft) use their own software for mouse features (Ms uses Intellipoint for newer mice to detect low battery, low signal, etc).
If you haven't installed any software, check the manufacturer's website to see if there are any updated driver's and/or software for your particular mouse. (While you're doing this, you're obviously going to have to browse using a wired mouse.)
