Unfortunately memory isn't everything in the computer world. Yes Office 2007 applications use VERY much memory and other system resources but still even if your computers had 512 the programs should not take 1-2 minutes to load.
Troubleshooting: Experiencing loadtimes personally? Have you actually experienced load times yourself, or are you just taking the employee's word for it? Check it out yourself, START >> RUN >> winword.exe See how long it takes to load the program just by itself. Other questions: Does the user have complete rights to their local hard drive? Have you mapped Microsoft word to load macros or normal.dot file from a server location? Do you use DHCP & DNS where you work? If so are these services on site or off site? Are the documents trying to be loaded "regardless of location" always on the server? Email? or are they located on the user's desktop? What other specs are these machines besides 2GB of memory? What version of windows is every machine running? What version of windows / linux are your servers? Are you using a volume licensing program with your servers are did you individually license each machine? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Computer Tech Support" group.
