I recently became interested in going to one of those chat's that require a microphone for a non-typing/speaking-only requirement. They have a button to press on with a mouse that says, "transmitting". They say, they can hear me clicking, but there is no voice. Their usual way to accomplish the transmission is to press down on this button, and to keep on pressing down all the time you are speaking, and to let up after one is finished.
Does my computer have a built in microphone? It does have a green and orange jack in the back of the CPU for microphone's. If it does have a built in microphone, could it be that something in my software has some bit of sound 'muted', or some setting that would activate 'microphone'? I have a Dell 4700 Dimension desktop, with a Dell monitor. The software is XP Media.
