Hi Aja,

Thanks!

1. Looks like Aya has improved significantly in the last year.
Hiroshi, could you let us know what are the major improvements?

You use gmail, so maybe you did not recieve my post.

I got +100 elo by adding prior bonus in UCB, very similar to Erica and
other programs. It works well only in many playouts, like over 10000.
I usually test 1400 playouts, so I did not notice. In 10000 playouts,
Aya often plays tenuki, like following.

 ABCDEFGHJKLMNOPQRST
19...................
18...................
17...................
16...X...........X... play 3-3 (X C3)
15................... and does not respond (O D3)
14..X................
13...................
12...................
11...................
10...................
9...................
8...................
7...................
6...................
5...................
4..OO...........O... and corner is killed. (O C4)
3..XO............... Pro never play this shape.
2................... So (O C4) gamma is low.
1...................
 ABCDEFGHJKLMNOPQRST

(;GM[1]SZ[19]KM[6.5]RU[Chinese]
;B[pd];W[pp];B[dd];W[dp];B[cq];W[dq];B[cf];W[cp])

After adding prior, Aya tend to play (X C3) (O D3) (X C3).
I also improved others, but +elo is few. Aya still does not
understand 3 libs vs 4 libs semeai.

3. Does anyone have information about HiraBot? Is it a new program?

HiraBot got 4th in 2014 UEC cup. It is new MC program, but older program
than Aya. Author made classical program "Hiratsuka no Igo" in 1990.
"Hiratsuka" is place name in Japan, it is well-known as Go fan's city.

By the way, I can not see archives now.
