By default, we do not use an opening book, but we have support for
loading Fuego's opening book and use it in some tournaments (we have
been thinking about building our own, but manpower is lacking).
But we use a joseki dictionary, automatically extracted from Kogo
branches that are marked as good variation. It does not seem to be
of much use against programs, but at least it does not make Pachi weaker
and Pachi's play feels more natural (and maybe Pachi performs better
against humans, but it is difficult to measure that).
