For uct/mc bots rely on the time_left command to dynamically adjust the number of simulations, seems kgs would the preferred protocol. I do not know well enough whether gogui-twogtp tracks time or not. But I guess it does not. Obviously playing by hand is hard to tell the bot how much time left.
