It is what I have heard for years, so some times ago I took the time to use
intel compiler (which not straightforward for objects as hashtable which are
not part of the standard stl),
and it is not better.
It was 5 months ago, g++ 4.0 against intel compiler of this time, on a P4
3.4 Ghz.
Perhaps it is different for core 2 duo, because it is new, but I believe it
will not last long, and g++ 4.1 is much better.
