Assuming the speed ratio is the same going from 2.4 to 3.4,  then

Also, why is your P4 3.4 already 1.2 faster than other P4 3.4
machines?
I never knew exactly why, it is my machine at the lab, so I don't know
exactly what is inside. The processor is:

processor       : 0
vendor_id       : GenuineIntel
cpu family      : 15
model           : 2
model name      : Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz
stepping        : 9
cpu MHz         : 3392.423
cache size      : 512 KB

And some experiments made me think that the "stepping        : 9" was the
key difference from the other systems I tried.
But maybe it comes from a faster RAM?
