Public bug reported: What I expected to happen: Dragging window to the left edge or right edge or using `Ctrl` + `Super` + `Left` or `Ctrl` + `Super` + `Right` tiles the window to half the screen.
What happens: When doing any of those four actions, the window is not tiled to half the screen. AskUbuntu post (there is a solution, but surely this should be enabled by default? This is quite a big missing default feature. Also the AskUbuntu question is for Ubuntu 16.04 (after upgrading from Ubuntu 15.10) but I have the same bug in a fresh Ubuntu 16.10 install): http://askubuntu.com/questions/835161/ubuntu-16-04-tile-windows-no- longer-working ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.10 Package: compiz 1:0.9.13.0+16.10.20160818.2-0ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.8.0-32.34-generic 4.8.11 Uname: Linux 4.8.0-32-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity_support_test.0: ApportVersion: 2.20.3-0ubuntu8.2 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Fri Dec 30 11:21:21 2016 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: yakkety DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: virtualbox, 5.1.6, 4.8.0-26-generic, x86_64: installed virtualbox, 5.1.6, 4.8.0-27-generic, x86_64: installed virtualbox, 5.1.6, 4.8.0-28-generic, x86_64: installed virtualbox, 5.1.6, 4.8.0-30-generic, x86_64: installed virtualbox, 5.1.6, 4.8.0-32-generic, x86_64: installed GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0046] (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Lenovo Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [17aa:215a] GsettingsChanges: b'org.compiz.core' b'outputs' b"['1280x1024+0+0']" b'org.compiz.core' b'hsize' b'2' b'org.compiz.core' b'active-plugins' b"['core', 'composite', 'opengl', 'resize', 'compiztoolbox', 'place', 'snap', 'imgpng', 'regex', 'session', 'vpswitch', 'scale', 'expo', 'move', 'unityshell']" b'org.compiz.core' b'vsize' b'2' InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-11-01 (58 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.10 "Yakkety Yak" - Release amd64 (20161012.2) MachineType: LENOVO 3680VVA PackageArchitecture: all ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.8.0-32-generic root=UUID=55588522-0a58-4ae9-85c0-a834beca7568 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: compiz UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 12/17/2010 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 6QET62WW (1.32 ) dmi.board.name: 3680VVA dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: Not Available dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Not Available dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr6QET62WW(1.32):bd12/17/2010:svnLENOVO:pn3680VVA:pvrThinkPadX201:rvnLENOVO:rn3680VVA:rvrNotAvailable:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmi.product.name: 3680VVA dmi.product.version: ThinkPad X201 dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.13.0+16.10.20160818.2-0ubuntu2 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.70-1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 12.0.3-1ubuntu2 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 12.0.3-1ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.18.4-1ubuntu6.1 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.10.2-1ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:7.7.1-1 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.917+git20160706-1ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.12-2 xserver.bootTime: Fri Dec 30 09:55:23 2016 xserver.configfile: default xserver.errors: xserver.logfile: /var/log/Xorg.0.log xserver.version: 2:1.18.4-1ubuntu6.1 xserver.video_driver: modeset ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug compiz-0.9 ubuntu xenial yakkety ** Description changed: What I expected to happen: Dragging window to the left edge or right edge or using `Ctrl` + `Super` + `Left` or `Ctrl` + `Super` + `Right` tiles the window to half the screen.
