The /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/i386/linux/npviewer workaround doesn't work for me. But launching firefox directly with the GDK switch works: export GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=1 && firefox
BTW: /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/i386/linux/npviewer doesn't exist if you haven't installed the pack.
