If most of your data is tabular and you want to work with it that way, Jakarta commons-dbutils works pretty well. http://db.apache.org/ojb/ http://db.apache.org/torque/ http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/dbutils/ Both OJB and Torque use connection pooling -- I think commons-dbutils requires that you manage your own connections, I think.
