Steve Loughran reopened HADOOP-17873:

had to reopen it as now build rules keep the shaded guava @VislbleForTesting
refs out; you need to move to the hadoop one. this is better as it backports
more easily...but it does mean some PRs need to be brought into sync with the
current rules.
please can you file a new PR with the relevant fixes.
