venkata krishna created HADOOP-13379: ----------------------------------------
Summary: Hadoop: Failed to set permissions of path: \tmp\hadoop-User\mapred\staging\ while running testdriver from eclipse Key: HADOOP-13379 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-13379 Project: Hadoop Common Issue Type: Bug Environment: My Local Machine Reporter: venkata krishna Hadoop: Failed to set permissions of path: \tmp\hadoop-User\mapred\staging\ I am trying to work through this tutorial about hadoop and eclipse: http://v-lad.org/Tutorials/Hadoop/. It went fine until the last step "Running Hadoop Project". Here, when I run the project in Eclipse, I get the error: 14/11/26 16:25:24 WARN util.NativeCodeLoader: Unable to load native-hadoop library for your platform... using builtin-java classes where applicable 14/11/26 16:25:24 ERROR security.UserGroupInformation: PriviledgedActionException as:User cause:java.io.IOException: Failed to set permissions of path: \tmp\hadoop-User\mapred\staging\User660196934\.staging to 0700 java.io.IOException: Failed to set permissions of path: \tmp\hadoop-User\mapred\staging\User660196934\.staging to 0700 at org.apache.hadoop.fs.FileUtil.checkReturnValue(FileUtil.java:691) at org.apache.hadoop.fs.FileUtil.setPermission(FileUtil.java:664) at org.apache.hadoop.fs.RawLocalFileSystem.setPermission(RawLocalFileSystem.java:514) at org.apache.hadoop.fs.RawLocalFileSystem.mkdirs(RawLocalFileSystem.java:349) at org.apache.hadoop.fs.FilterFileSystem.mkdirs(FilterFileSystem.java:193) at org.apache.hadoop.mapreduce.JobSubmissionFiles.getStagingDir(JobSubmissionFiles.java:126) at org.apache.hadoop.mapred.JobClient$2.run(JobClient.java:942) at org.apache.hadoop.mapred.JobClient$2.run(JobClient.java:936) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at javax.security.auth.Subject.doAs(Unknown Source) at org.apache.hadoop.security.UserGroupInformation.doAs(UserGroupInformation.java:1190) at org.apache.hadoop.mapred.JobClient.submitJobInternal(JobClient.java:936) at org.apache.hadoop.mapred.JobClient.submitJob(JobClient.java:910) at org.apache.hadoop.mapred.JobClient.runJob(JobClient.java:1353) at TestDriver.main(TestDriver.java:41) I had earlier this permission issue (taskTracker could not start because "Failed to set permissions" ), but I resolved it using this patch: https://github.com/congainc/patch-hadoop_7682-1.0.x-win. I don't understand why this doesn't work when running the project form Eclipse. How can I solve this issue?
