Hi Jon,
thanks for your interest in contributing to Hadoop. The Jira you are
working on was opened against the HDFS component, but your patch (correctly,
I believe) applies against the FS-independent common code. The automated CI
machinery that runs test-patch fails in this situation. So I've moved the
bug from the HDFS component to the HADOOP (common) component (HDFS-364 -->
HADOOP-7713).

Having done that, test-patch happily picked it up and gave it a +1.
Congratulations! And thanks for respecting the need for unit tests!

Enabling you to formally be assigned the Jira requires adding you to the
Contributor list for the project. I don't have privs to do that, so
hopefully someone who does will see this and add you. I did add you to the
Watchers list for that jira.

Let's wait until you are added to the Contributors list, and then I'll be
happy to code review your patch, then commit it.

Best regards,
--Matt
