Hi, I am Ajay Boddeda, a GSoC 2026 applicant working on the DataFrames API proposal for Apache Wayang. This issue is relevant to my proposal. The DataFrame API will need to read schema information from Calcite models to understand table structures and column types. Using Calcite's native SchemaPlus approach instead of manual JSON parsing would make this integration cleaner and more robust. In particular, when the DataFrame API performs a select() or filter() operation involving SQL-backed tables, having proper SchemaPlus integration would allow Wayang to correctly resolve column types through Calcite's type system — which aligns with the Schema design in my DataFrame proposal.
