Oh, I should also really update this PR to document this: the Pi4B will not allow a framebuffer to be created unless a monitor is already plugged in at boot time. I haven't found a way around that. Did you have the monitor plugged in and powered on (i.e. it displays no signal) and then boot the Pi?
