I should be able to attend today’s meeting, but as I’m at a conference,
there’s a chance I may be unable to do so due to other commitments.
Website traffic - Following graduation, we experienced a significant spike
in website traffic, which doubled our usual volume. The traffic has since
decreased, but is still above typical levels. Proportions from countries are
roughly the same, with a small increase in traffic from the US. The number of
people viewing documents has significantly increased; for example, we had 4,500
views this month. The 0.9.0 release has 6x the views of the 0.8.0 release. The
blog for the top-level project announcement got 400 views, which is 5-10x what
most of our blog posts get. We’ve also had over 200 downloads of 0.9.0 from
direct links on our site, which is significantly higher than our usual number.
Stars - Since graduation, we’ve seen a large increase in the number of
stars, and we’re now 100 stars ahead of Polaris. Polaris’ growth in stars has
fallen.
LinkedIn stats - Our graduation post received 7000+ impressions and 30
reactions, which is the largest we’ve had. (Most are in the 100s, a couple have
received 1000 or 2000 impressions). Although I do notice it was sponsored and
the non-sponsored views were just over 1000 impressions. My own post on the
graduation got slightly more impressions and reactions from 50 people.
Activity in Unity Catalog continues to fall to minimal levels. Polaris
activity has decreased, as has the number of weekly contributors, while
external Gravitino activity has increased, along with overall activity;
however, these levels fluctuate from week to week. We’ve seen an increase in
the number of contributors to Gravitino and are a couple off the 200 mark.
All of the usual spreadsheets and charts have been updated.
Note: Last week I was in Germany at Berlin Buzzwords and have several
Gravitino leads to follow up on. This week I’m at the Open Source Summit in
Denver. I’ve also been invited to give part of a keynote at a conference in
Beijing on July 5th.
