Thank you very much for this PR. Your finding is valid, and the examples
explain the issue clearly.
We expect most users’ datasets to be fully covered by indexes.
Since enabling refine_factor requires additional reads of the original
vectors and may affect performance, could we add a session variable to control
automatic refinement for queries that mix indexed and unindexed fragments, with
it disabled by default?
We could document this case, including the possible distance and ordering
errors without refinement and the performance cost of enabling it, and let
users choose the behavior that fits their needs.
