Thanks a lot @morningman for taking the time to look into this and test it against older Ranger versions. That makes total sense. I hadn't caught the ranger-plugins-common 2.4.0 limitation on branch-3.0 and 2.1, or the security hole with unevaluated DENY rules. Reading the UserStore directly inside Doris and making it active by default is definitely the right move here.
