Why not to leverage already existing infrastructure around ParameterizedClass
and things it offers? It would be on par with already existing configuration
like seed_provider. Please take a look at comments Mick added here
https://github.com/apache/cassandra/pull/2222/files and our discussion around
it. As I see it, it will really fit the narrative. From what you described, I
just do not see the benefits. So in a nutshell, it would be like:

- class_name: org.apache.cassandra.io.compress.LZ4Compressor
parameters:
- param1: "value1"
....

class_name might be FQCN or just simple name (LZ4Compressor, if it is in
o.a.c.i.c package), or just "lz4" to have it aliased. So we do not need "type".
