All my PCs / laptops run win11 now, but yes, I remember it when running win10. At that time, I used a free proggie, this one if not in mistake https://safelyremove.com/, which was a lifesaver as I don't have that much patience to wait for processes to release the USB drive(s).
Checked this last version with VirusTotal, https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/0c4988598e9f21c8729797a4e8a828bcd4109f83797161788deccdacebc00b5b, and it seems 100% safe. Best of lucks and patience with that, FB _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Filipe MS Bento (PhD) Head of Division https://www.linkedin.com/in/filipebento https://www.ua.pt/en/p/10314464 https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8135-2304 Library, Document Management and Museology Services -- Digital Resources & User Support -- Tel: (+351) 234 370 860 Email: sbidm-bibliot...@ua.pt Web: https://www.ua.pt/sbidm Please note that if I am emailing outside of office hours, this is for my convenience, and I do not expect a reply -----Original Message----- From: Code for Libraries <CODE4LIB@LISTS.CLIR.ORG> On Behalf Of charles meyer Sent: Saturday, March 2, 2024 8:03 PM To: CODE4LIB@LISTS.CLIR.ORG Subject: [CODE4LIB] Windows 10 - Safe to Eject Flash Drive My esteemed listmates, XP and W7 never seemed to have this issue but it's huge with W10. I 'll insert a flash drive into my laptop. I'll open that flash drive in File Explorer and open a Word file. I'll then open 2-3 browsers and other applications and then close the flash drive file opened and close FE but W10 won;t prived the Safe to Eject Flash drive. I often have to close all my browsers (what do they have to do with the one file I opened in FE?) and yet I still can't get the safe to eject. There have been times I've had to reboot the laptop just to eject the flash drive. Has anyone found a fi for this with W10? Thank you, Charles. Charlotte County Public Library
