DESCRIPTION
Bring out the best in the people you work with or supervise by following the

element in the daily interactions of working with people in technical services
by Inquiring, Noting, Valuing, Encouraging, Supporting, and Trusting. This
approach holds the potential to change work environments and increase
productivity and efficiency. The session will engage participants with
electronic polling providing self-reflection and a fun interactive learning
experience.

SPEAKER BIO
James Rhoades has been Assistant Director of Continuing and Electronic
Resources at Virginia Tech Libraries since June 2022. Prior to Virginia Tech he
worked as a public services professional at Old Dominion University and Florida
State University. During his final three years at ODU, he served in a joint
role that included being the Collection Development Coordinator. That
opportunity opened his eyes to a new and wonderful world and newfound respect
for the inner workings and complexities of library resources. It revealed
there’s no magic, rather lots of smart, dedicated, and hard-working staff
ensuring people have access to resources - highlighting the importance of
finding ways to appreciate them.
