SPEAKER BIO James Rhoades has been Assistant Director of Continuing and Electronic Resources at Virginia Tech Libraries since June 2022. Prior to Virginia Tech he worked as a public services professional at Old Dominion University and Florida State University. During his final three years at ODU, he served in a joint role that included being the Collection Development Coordinator. That opportunity opened his eyes to a new and wonderful world and newfound respect for the inner workings and complexities of library resources. It revealed there’s no magic, rather lots of smart, dedicated, and hard-working staff ensuring people have access to resources - highlighting the importance of finding ways to appreciate them.
