FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Library at Kingsborough Community College is seeking 
self-motivated candidates for Reader Services Librarian. The Reader Services 
Librarian in collaboration with colleagues, serves as a reference librarian, 
develops and delivers instructional classes, and participates in collection 
development in one or more subject areas. Supports the library through 
providing in-depth consultation with students and faculty and collaboration for 
the on-going improvement of institutional programs and practices. Pursues an 
active scholarly agenda, performs supervisory dutites, and participates in 
college and university-wide programs and committees, as assigned. The librarian 
will attend forums, professional development workshops, and other faculty 
and/or college-wide programs as a participant and representative of the library 
faculty. The successful candidate will also be assigned additional professional 
tasks according to individual strengths and experience. Candidate must 
demonstrate and maintain a record of excellence in librarianship, scholarly 
achievement and service for reappointment, tenure and promotion. Serves on 
Library, College and University committees. The work schedule during an 
academic year includes regular evening rotations and some weekends.

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against 
COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests 
to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being 
fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past 
their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates 
must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment. All CUNY 
employees must reside within a commutable distance to their campus.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master's in Library Science (MLS), Master's in Library Information Studies 
(MLIS), or closely related discipline from an ALA-accredited institution, with 
a second graduate degree required. Also required is the ability to work with 
others for the good of the institution.

COMPENSATION

$51,242- $97,580. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications
