Los Alamos National Laboratory is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. Our Science Research Library seeks a collaborative leader with experience providing long-range planning and strategic direction for current and emerging technology to act as Deputy Group Leader for Technology Strategy & Services. The Research Library is a strategic asset to the LANL community, advancing scientific discovery, scholarly publishing and lifelong learning in support of the Lab’s mission. A newly created position, the Deputy Group Leader plays a critical role in strategic decisions related to the Library’s technological infrastructure and evolving services. The incumbent reports directly to the Research Library Group Leader and acts on her behalf as needed. In addition to general oversight of Research Library operation and strategic direction, the successful candidate will mentor and lead two teams providing applied information science research, scholarly publishing and digital repository services. Requirements: · MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited program (or equivalent) · Minimum five years of increasingly responsible, relevant professional experience managing technical projects and teams · Strong background developing library technologies, including Web-based publishing systems and tools, digital repository, digital preservation and digital library systems · Advanced knowledge of a range of scholarly communication services and activities such as open access, digital preservation, funding agency requirements and copyright · Knowledge of budgeting and grant management practices · Proven management experience and ability to inspire, build trust, lead change, foster innovation and empower staff growth · Ability to obtain DOE Q clearance (U.S. citizenship required) Desired Skills: · Proficiency with one or more project management methodologies (e.g., Agile) · Familiarity with DOE/NNSA Laboratories research and development mission areas · Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a STEM-related field ---- Brought to you by code4lib jobs: https://jobs.code4lib.org/jobs/33283-job-information-deputy-group-leader-for-technology-strategy-services-r-d-manager-3
