Spring 2017 Workshop: Advance MarcEdit
Thursday May 4, 2017: 9:00AM-2:30PM
Science, Industry and Business Library (SIBL) – New York Public Library

Please join us for a talk by Terry Reese, creator of MarcEdit, free software
developed primarily for the library cataloging community to lower technical
barriers and empower librarians to take more control over their organization’s
metadata. Created in 1999 as a global editing utility for MARC data, MarcEdit
has since evolved into a full suite of tools to create, harvest, and manipulate
a variety of non-MARC metadata as well. This presentation will provide an
overview of the project, how it was started and where it is going.

In addition to the evening program, Terry Reese will be offering a MarcEdit
workshop. In this hands-on session, participants will have the opportunity to
learn about some of the more advanced-level functions in MarcEdit, including
(but not limited to) Regular Expressions, automation, working with Linked data
and non XML-data, the API/Command line tool, and ILS integration. Participants
are encouraged to submit their own topics of interest and troubleshooting
questions when signing up. Some basic knowledge of MarcEdit will be assumed.
Space is limited!
