If someone’s determined enough to patch the binary, there’s nothing you can do 
about it. No matter how carefully you encode/hide the timestamp and expiration 
check, a determined cracker will find it and ‘fix’ it. It’s not hard to do by 
stepping through the assembly code in a debugger. The harder you try to make 
it, the more of an exciting challenge it becomes to the people in this scene.
