I’m skeptical of using any non-open-source crypto code, since there’s no way to 
do peer review on it, and that kind of auditing is pretty important. (Also, 
I’ve never heard of Chilkat before, and crypto primitives are notoriously 
difficult to get right, so I’m not sure I’d trust them. Also, if they go out of 
business you can’t get any more support or updates.)

If I were doing what you’re doing, I’d go with libcrypto (part of OpenSSL) 
instead. It’s free, open-source, very widely used.
