How much less data? Is it just truncated, or is it the wrong data entirely?

Also, exactly which cell network is this? Anything special about the server?

My guess is that it's something going on with the cell network; a lot of them 
use proxies.

Finally, the macnetworkprog list on this site is the best place to ask this; 
you have a better chance of reaching the Apple networking gurus.
