The following code fragment properly displays an up arrow on my view.

NSDictionary* fontAttrs = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys:
                        [NSColor redColor], NSForegroundColorAttributeName,
                        [NSFont systemFontOfSize:10], NSFontAttributeName,
                        nil];
                                
NSString *upArrow = @"\u2B06";
[upArrow drawAtPoint:NSMakePoint(100,100) withAttributes:fontAttrs];
