Ok so now I'm thoroughly confused.
The API description of addSubView for an NSView is "Adds a view to the
receiver’s subviews so it’s displayed above its siblings." Don't I need to add
all the views to the NSDocument's conentView. This only happens once in
windowControllerDidLoadNib?
According to setHidden "It remains in its superview’s list of subviews,
however, and participates in autoresizing as usual", which is what should be
happening at the end of the fadeout animation.
