I do think it’s related. It sounds like the render code is able to handle style variants in some fonts but not others (maybe it’s PostScript vs TrueType vs OpenType, or something like that.) That would explain why you’re seeing this problem with very ordinary NSFont* calls, but no one else is. —Jens
