I’m not qualified to answer the CoreData question, but it shouldn’t take that long to read 12,000 words out of a text file. A fraction of a second. You may have been doing it using some technique that added a lot of extra overhead, perhaps for memory management. It sounds like you’re going down a different path now, but if you do decide to go back to the text file approach, the collective wisdom of this list should be able to help you figure out why it’s slow and how to speed it up. —Jens
